hey guys, i have had my implanon in since this time last year and other than a few days of spotting during the first few months i have had no sign of my period even coming.... every now and then ill get like a crampish type of lower belly pain, other than that im just cranky, moody, depressed and have a low sex drive.. are these things all normal? especially the no period bit? im a bit worried, coz whats happening to all the stuff on the inside? itd be all gross and yucky wouldnt it? i always thought it had to come out and if it doesnt, somethings not right :S|
All of that happened to me while I was on Implanon. I had mine removed in October after a year and a half and I still haven't seen my period. GP says it's totally normal.
There shouldn't be anything gross and yucky inside because the Implanon most likely is preventing you from developing a lining, which is why you aren't seeing a period.
Its totally normal. The hormone in the implant stops your uterus from building up lining. Some people respond to it so well that there basically is nothing in there to shed any more and you stop having periods. It does no harm to your health to be like this while on the implant, just like if you were on birth control pills and stacked them to have no period.
I am on my fourth year of implanon (I had it replaced already).
I can count the periods I've had in those four years on one hand. So yes, it is normal.
It's normal, but one of the reasons I had my implant removed two years early. I was just tired of not knowing when, and if my period was coming, and since I don't want children, a monthly reassurance of not being pregnant was something I actually missed!
I had it removed about two weeks ago, I waited a week for my period to magically start but it didn't happen, so now I've gone back on the pill and hopefully that kick starts things into motion again.
Nothing should be going yuck in your belly since you only develop a uterine lining (which is what you lose when you get your period) for an egg to get all nice and cozy with. Since you're not ovulating you're not producing that lining either, so it's all good. If you're still worried though, go talk to your doctor :)
i feel better now it all makes sense
cheers guys :) :)
I have the exact same thing. I had the Implanon inserted in May 2011. I had three days of spotting in November, but no other bleeding besides that. Actually, as I type this I'm suffering from some cramps, but no bleeding or spotting. I think that's pretty normal.
As far as being yucky inside, other commenters are right - nothing is "growing" in there, so nothing's building up.
